Weighting Factors: “DRF” rating

DRF Speed  The Daily Racing Forms speed rating is weighted against the track

record.  A speed rating of 100 means that the horse’s running time

equals the track record for the distance.  Each fifth of a second slower

earns a point less.  Thus an 85 is 3 full seconds (15 fifths) slower than

                    the local track’s record.

Track Variant  The purpose of the track variant is to express the track’s relative

slowness and thus its effect on running times.

The Individual Horse Rating DRF speed is equal to the DRF speed + the Track Variant.
